I'm trying to find out the specifications for these but seem to be getting nowhere. Ideally I want to know things such as output/watt and anything else that is useful. The offical website isn't as helpful as it should be.

Reason I ask is that I am thinking of upgrading from my CREATIVE GIGAWORKS T20.

I have a Creative X-fi (entry level card) and I'm also wondering if I would need to upgrade this card as well if I went to the BOSE speakers. (I'm hoping I dont need to upgrade though!).

Thanks.

Bose in my experience dont advertise these details for any of there mainstream consumer products. There are much better alternatives for less £ - in all areas regarding there products. If you can get a discount or used item, and they suit your 'lifestyle' then at a push there worth considering.

Well I'm not to happy with the Creatives and I will be honest I have always liked the BOSE Companion for about 3 or so years. I have heard them myself and they sound good but I'm trying to be sensible by comparing them over my T20s. I also dont know about the soundcard I have so any opinions appreciated

Bose don't release specs of there products. There is no need to upgrade your soundcard, as the speakers are still the inferior sounding part.

If you care about sound quality don't buy Bose, and don't buy PC speakers. I'd look at a stereo integrated amplifier and standmount speakers.

All for £200? I dont want to spend more than that.

Buy second hand

Put down no more than £100 per item, bit more on the amp. It'll blow away the Bose. Plus have more I/O, which you need on a PC (lack of inputs) ie plug mp3, media streamer etc.

Integrated amp and speakers can be done for £200, its how I got mine :)
If you want cheaper, the Aego M are about the best 'pc' speakers you'll get, but then they're also designed by a hi-fi seperates company!

Yeap, I have old Technics VU-660 Amp connected with a pair of B&O Beovox 3800's. Lovely. All for £140.

Then i question whether you have heard the BOSE at all, unless in a BOSE demo room with 50k of sound treatment and equalization, plus with only their selected demo tracks.

All BOSE products are horrific for the price you pay. Maybe at 1/3 their price they would be acceptable, but that would never ever happen. please stay away from them, and as others have said they don't release any specifications for their equipment..... Why ?... well because the specifications would show how bad their products are before people hear them.

Well for 170 i got my monitor audio B2 speakers but these were brand new, and i picked up an arcam delta 290 for 100 notes. And that amp punches waaaaaay above its weight including the NADs.

I have heard them in various stores. The last store I saw them they were connected to an average laptop and still the sound was pretty good.

I wouldn't go as far as calling the sound horrific. To each his own I suppose

I think he meant horrific for the price. i.e. you can get a lot better for your money.

I find it very odd that they market themself as being top notch, yet wont release any specs about there products.

For £200 go for an amp and bookshelf speakers.

Or for a simple upgrade over the T20's go for the Aego M's or Harmon Soundsticks.

End of the day, you need to take a listen to them all and decide what sounds right for you.
