I'm about to purchase one tomorrow for the ipod to use as the main speaker system inthe living room.

I know £250 is still steep and there is better sound to be sought from systems 50-100 pounds cheaper... but......

I really like the way it looks!!!!!!

As long as people assure me it'll still sound great, I'll be very happy!

Any thoughts in general on my pending purchase, please?

Doubt it is very good tbh.

Get one of these and plug it into your amp...

if you don't have an amp buy a Sonic Impact T amp and some proper speakers like the Mordaunt Short 902i.

The Sonic Impact T amp may seem cheap but they are suprisingly good and perfect for what you want it for.

BOSE SUCK!!!!!!!! ;)

If you like the way it sounds, the way it looks and the price, then why not.

with bose you tend to pay for the brand and the aesthetics over the quality. But there is a market for bose, and their range of products. But its not the enthusiasts buying their products.

Heh, went to the Bose website for a laugh and found the Sound dock, there was even a link to 'specifications' and I figured, it might list usefull info, like power, distortion figures etc......

How wrong I was, the specification is as follows.....

Dimensions (H x W x D):
16.9 x 30.3 x 16.5cm • 2.1kg

Thats it, nothing more, I guess its actual specs are so bad, they didnt want to mention them.

I heard one of these recently. It was rubbish for the money.
Worse still, it was just two days after I'd heard a friends "active Monitor audio" computer speakers, again with Ipod docking facilities. The MA cost a third of the amount, and sounded better.

Still, if you think you'll impress your friends by showing them a Bose box, that's cool.

Having had one for over a year i can say that its a style item with decent audio. Chances are a lot of your audio via the ipod may be low bit rate to start with so playbacks limited anyways.

Look its no hifi but it offers a really loud and listenable sound with impressive bass from such a small system that also looks cool.

Hifi gurus will not be impressed but i found it fantastic used in the bathroom, ironic really as thats were you normally associate crap with. I got mine for £180 in 05 but what sold it for me was it looked well with the nano and was a small stylish contained box with no cables other than the power.

Great for when in the shower/bath.

I use an iW300 powered remote control dock (sounds vastly better than just using phonos plugged into the headphone socket, and takes my 80Gb G5.5 without having to remove the skin), my old Arcam Apha 2, a pair of MS902i speakers and a pair old target stands. Sounds vastly supperior to a Bose Sounddock and cost rather less as well.
