Bought a bmw, seller was a clown.

Two pictures sorry, my phone's camera isn't working right so they are blurry.

So far replaced the rear light (£15 breakers yard). Breakers didn't have the fog light as its the round type so famous auction site for that.
Reverse bulbs weren't working so changed those and now the reverse sensors work (strange one).
Ordered a rocker cover gasket kit (£32).
While my friend was checking it over in his garage he noticed slight play in the pass side drop link so having both changed once i receive them (£11 pair).
1 of the front tyres is close to the legal limit 235/35/19 but my local tyre place has one for £67 fitted, i'll get that done on Friday.

Get the above sorted first hopefully by next week then have an oil service and get a quote on some paint work correction.

Fake M3 wheels and a fake aeriel on the roof, this isn't going well :p

How on earth has your local tyre place got a 235/35/19 for £67 fitted?!

The wheels maybe genuine. I know the rears never fit from m3 wheels as they use the e39 offset but could be 4 fronts. I'll have a look at the inside of them when the car is at my mates garage this week.

First tyre place i called said £69 but they don't have any in stock until after the weekend. Second place said £67 and they have 2 in stock but i only require 1 :)

I might give you £1250 to crush it.

LOL.

I would be absolutely amazed if the wheels were genuine - hardly anyone goes to the trouble of sourcing 4 genuine front wheels for a non M3 and those that do don't tend to treat the rest of the car like **** and then pop onto ebay to buy a pretend plastic telephone aeriel for the roof. I mean of all the fake things to fit.. a pretend phone aeriel?!

A £67 tyre in that size is going to be beyond dire. You are looking at double that even for something like a Falken 452! E46's are particularly sensitive to mis-matched tyres as well, so you'd be well advised to replace the pair.

Good luck convincing the guy who just spent £1250 on a 330i with almost certainly fake 19" M3 wheels to spend sensible money on tyres.

Surely the fact he's just sourced himself a bottom of the market 330i should tell you all you need to know about how much money he's probably prepared to 'invest' in the car? :p

What kind of tyre? You'd be far better off putting smaller wheels and decent tyres on it that sticking a random ditch finder on, especially on a 330 - in saying that with those things on it the setup will be probably be well out.

To be honest I can kind of see the appeal of the car as a whole - just don't spend any money you dont need to on it and do any work yourself (or your friend for I'm guessing mates rates). I assume it's done moon miles? If you were to get even a year out of it then sell it on you'll not lose much - don't be tempted to do things like get the paintwork sorted though, start out with a good example before doing things like that!

Yes of course, I'm not saying they are just saying its a possibility.

You mean in terms of road noise for the tyres? Its always going to have road noise with 19" rims so doesn't matter. As long as its black and round with tread its good.

Hmm no a tyre with some actual wet / cold weather performance, a decent wear rate that also happens to match at least the other on the same axle matters, especially on a car that's rwd with a decent punt of power

Jesus, this will not end well. You'd have to be certifiable to buy a car like that.

LOL @ £67 19" tyres, I'm spending more than that on a Focus with 15" wheels :/

... seriously?

Sell on those horrendous wheels to some other chav and get a nice set of 18/17s with some half decent rubber.

Only one clown in that transaction and it aint the seller:). What on earth did you expect for an 11 year old car at bottom of the market money? Some scratches, cracks, a rocker gasket leak and failed parking sensor - oh noes!

Anyway - hope it works out for you (if you really care). While you're delving in to the rocker cover gasket, may as well do the VANOS seals - probably needs it. Get rid of the 19s on Ebay and stick on some standard 17/18s which will look and ride better and you might be able to afford some half decent rubber actually worthy of the car.
