Just got back from Thailand and picked up a Canon Powershot A640 with a 1 GB memory card for around £170. So far Im pretty happy with the quality of the pics (from what I can see on the screen, as I havent installed the software onto the PC yet).

The main reason I chose the A640 was because its an affordable way for me to get into digital photography (which I have been wanting to do for a while) without breaking the bank and going all out with a digital SLR. The A640 has a fully manual option where you can customise all the settings including aperture (2.8 - 8.0), ISO (80 - 800), shutter speed etc. I also like the fact that it takes AA's, has a 4x optical (as opposed to most similar priced camera's 3x) and has a big rotating display.

I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a well built, well specced camera with a lot of options or if you want to get into photography but cant afford a digital SLR.
