The remaining orange is built into the light, but you can remove it with a soldering iron and a steady hand. I might give it a go, but the thought of putting a hot iron near a set of expensive plastic makes me nervous!

Normally with you on everything you post mate, but in this case, nice car, worth spending on. Spent a fortune on my old 996, technically you wouldn't spend the money old on old relics like my s either. Its all about keeping the old decent stuff going though. I really can't make my mind up on the front.

Rear looks a lot cleaner however. Be a bit stupid doing one without the other.

£800 though. Wow.

The whole units have to be replaced?

It cost me £30 to do the same thing. I've since put it back to stock anyway bit OTT on what already is an increadibly looking chavtastic motor.

Looks a lot nicer and less dated.

De-tangoing my old mkI mx-5 was far cheaper. Just had to remove the headlight units, put them in the oven for 15 mins to soften the glue, pry apart the headlights to remove the orange reflectors. Then buy some philips silver vision bulbs to replace the orange ones. Put the headlight units back together and reinstall

£800 is a fair bit, but to be honest, it does make a huge improvement.

Also, he's already explained that the cost is inflated. Sounds as though it's not money wasted because if that is the going rate then he could always sell them on.

Did mine last summer, £500 from eBay. Only got £60 for the old set. Also invested £500 I a personal plate to help hide the age (although you could get a T reg 986, not an S though)

However I fail to see how this observation is relevant, as I was posting in a thread about a Boxter, not a Golf. However if once again you wish to try and derail a thread by bringing my awesome Fow Vay into things, please feel free.

There's no denying the car looks better for the de-tango, I was just expressing surprise that it couldn't be done any cheaper (which it could have been, going by the post above).

Only if I had a time machine. As I said earlier, if I'd done this last may when I bought the car a full kit was about £600 new. Since Porsche no longer make the front lights, and there is no pattern alternative, the prices have sky rocketed. If you check the link in my 2nd post you'll see that a single front costs over £500 new now, hence why I bought the fronts off eBay

That's why I'm keeping the old set - then when I come to sell the car I'll decide if I'll get more for the lights separately.

How are you finding the car? Still planning on a change? I guess if it was my only car and I had a lot of motorway miles I'd consider the same, but for A and B road blasts it's just awesome

. My only dilemma is whether to take out the Boxster or the bike as they both like the same weather!

Just found this clip on YouTube. I know a lot people don't like the look of the pipes, but they sound awesome. Actually meatier in real life, but the video gives a decent impression.
