Boy, 11, boards plane to Italy at Manchester Airport without passport

Last time i flew from Manchester to New York, the guy in front of me at the boarding gate was actually flying down to Heathrow. He had gotten through the ticket check before the boarding gate and there was a big sign next to the woman checking the tickets that said NEW YORK. So in this case part of the security hadn't worked and he was also a dumb ass.

Or he was doing a check on the airports security, for anyone really.

One must not assume things.

Heard this on the news today, but just read the article.

The youngster had been shopping with his mother at Wythenshawe Civic Centre when he went missing.

Staff at the centre were alerted and checked CCTV which showed the boy leaving the complex before he made his way to the airport.

^ This surprised me! I thought he would have been in the Airport, you know, waiting for someone with his mum and he has wondered off...

Now Civic Centre is not right next door to the Airport, but I think you can get a bus that takes about 10-15 mins...wow...he really REALLY wanted to leave...

Perhaps his mother was taking hours to shop, this boy just decided to do what all men want to.

No doubt a full blown enquiery will be launched to find out how this happened.

Transport Secretary Justine Greening:

"I treat security breaches very, very seriously indeed, so we are now reviewing urgently with Manchester Airport, and indeed the airline, exactly what happened."

Yep there we go.

I thought it was from Rome to here , I thought security was supposed to be tight in this country :(

Security, he has no guns bombs or weapons on his person ;) He just shouldn;t have been there in the first place.

They are claiming security didn't fail as he posed no danger, security are not looking at boarding passes, just checking the cattle of naughties.
Its airline staff that should be checking those boarding the plane and checking the numbers onboard.

If my kids did this I'd be torn between being furious with him yet equally impressed.

I think I'd have to ground him for a month but buy him a console :o

I would just leave him in Rome to be honest, if he wants to bugger off that badly I'll let him. The little scrote. :p
