Boy dies as sand tunnel collapses

What the hell is going on in this thread? Lots of people build sand castles and sand structures at the beach, a sand tunnel is nothing that needs supervising by parents. He obviously tried to build it too big and it collapsed, and tragically he died before he could be dug out, it happens every few years wether you hear about it or not.

Spot the contradiction.

Most people underestimate the weight of sand, they think of it like snow for some reason, still doesnt mean that 16 year olds need supervision on the beach. In years gone by full grown men have died exactly the same way and its been in th e news, should we shut down all the beaches?

There's a wee difference between a kid with a bucket and spade, and digging a "miners tunnel"

parents should have watched what he was doing. the childer should be attended with there parents in the beach as i beleave it is a law
Tbh mate when I was 16 I barely slept at my house anyway. At that age I probably wouldn't have gone to a beach with my parents.
16 is where you fully gain the right to independance and free will.

And it probably seemed like a good idea at the time anyway.
