The ludes my weekend car, so the action it sees is basically only ever; The Cat n Fiddle, Snakes Pass, a few Welsh country roads a my annual trip to the 'ring/Europe.

Ever since owning the car I've noticed how crap the brakes are, my Accord can out-brake the Prelude with ease. Can anyone recommend some decent pads and discs I can fit - Im also lookign to replace the fluid as I think its been boiled a few times since Stevlio Pass.

Are Black Diamond, or EBC going to perform better than OEM discs? Or does it make more sense just to upgrade the pads? Any recommendations?

Oh, anyone with a Prelude have the same experience of poor brakes?

Thanks!!!!

I would spend your money on pads first, rather than discs. As this will help directly against fade by getting pads that work at higher temperatures. Axxis Ultimates and EBC Yellowstuff pads are very highly recommended for the MX5. Don't forget to get uprated pads at the rear to match the fronts!

Also what engine is it? You may have better brakes you can upgrade to if you don't have the largest engine.

Thanks saitrix

Its the 2.2 Motegi Version so 197bhp.

Discs are a must at the moment as I warped one around the 'ring in August. So at the moment I've got dreadful fading (probably due to glazed pads) warped discs when they heat up (due to the 'ring) and no doubt boiled fluid (from Stevlio Pass)

Hearing bad things about Black Diamond discs now.

People just go with official Mazda discs on the mx5, even the ones running in the 250bhp trackday cars.

Get some good DOT4 or 5.1 in there too so it won't boil again.
