I have always had a problem with the brakes on my car, they are rubbish
. So over the Easter hols I decided to do another crash course in car mechanics and decided to upgrade them. Not the usual “performance” pads and discs but bigger vented discs and callipers.
I sourced a set that had only done 4500 miles from a Punto HGT for only 50 quid and I was away. During the Easter holidays I went about fitting them along with some goodridge braided stainless brake lines.
With the brakes from a car designed to go twice as fast and being much heavier I am very pleased with the results being almost able to do endos! A very worthwhile upgrade to anyone considering it.
Heard it's possible to fit rear discs from an uno turbo so am considering that to add some brake balance but currently these are more than adequate.
P.S Oh the original discs where 240mm solid (10mm thick), the new discs are 260mm vented (20mm thick)

...rear brakes do very little percentage of the total braking (10% in my case).
