I have always had a problem with the brakes on my car, they are rubbish :( . So over the Easter hols I decided to do another crash course in car mechanics and decided to upgrade them. Not the usual “performance” pads and discs but bigger vented discs and callipers.
I sourced a set that had only done 4500 miles from a Punto HGT for only 50 quid and I was away. During the Easter holidays I went about fitting them along with some goodridge braided stainless brake lines.

With the brakes from a car designed to go twice as fast and being much heavier I am very pleased with the results being almost able to do endos! A very worthwhile upgrade to anyone considering it.
Heard it's possible to fit rear discs from an uno turbo so am considering that to add some brake balance but currently these are more than adequate.

P.S Oh the original discs where 240mm solid (10mm thick), the new discs are 260mm vented (20mm thick)

Wouldn't put discs on the rear unless you were very carefuly about biasing it correctly - you'll just overbrake it and turn it into a slithering horrible thing :p ...rear brakes do very little percentage of the total braking (10% in my case).

Looks like a good upgrade though, glad it had the desired results!

Why does the front of your car have an orange 'mouth' on one side?
The radiator is behind it, the same with the bumper, only the slates are cut out one side. Might consider cutting them all out and adding another intake gasket for symmetry.

With (relatively) huge discs on the front, I'd see a rear disc conversion as pretty cosmetic, and possibly dangerous dependant on the bias.

I'd not bother myself.

What size are those HGT discs then?
