Bravo channel to close

I think it's odd that Virgin One has only just been rebranded and is being closed down. The change of channel for Chuck suddenly makes a lot more sense!
Not really Sky already has its main Sky channels - buying those was just to remove a content competitor and allows them a very useful freeview slot...

Not a surprise since removing free Sky Sports News to replace it with chargeable Sky Sports on Freeview made its intentions well known...

I understand the reason they've got rid of it but it still seems odd to spend time and money rebranding a channel only to ditch it a month later.

Bravo used to be class, it used to be my most watched channel but now its dropped off and I can only watch the same episode of knight rider so many times before I get bored.

Not really - they had to rebrand due to the previous owners details all over the place and I cant see where in that article is the actual closing date. This is probably the earliest opportunity to begin closing it after confirming with the relevant authorities and deciding where content would be amalgamated to.

I very much doubt this wasnt the expectation after purchasing the set of channels and the rebrand in the meantime ensured money coming from advertisers and another place to advertise their established channels/services...

Sky just wanted Virgin out of content providing...

Think its been moved to Living
Let me find out.. sec

EDIT: http://www.chuckonline.net/2010/10/chuck-season-4-uk-premiere-date.html

These are my favourite channels as well :( All the police shows. Mainly Motorway Patrol and The Prince of Bel-Air is on Channel 1 isn't it?

Grrr

Well Murdoch is one of the worlds most hated men anyway isn't he.. so... He'll be dead before we know it anyway!

Yeah saw that when i watched S3 final episode. I was like '**** yeah! back in 2 weeks!!' :D

Wonder what % is now Sky+/V+ compared to non +. surly +1 channels are knocking on deaths door.

Even with Sky+/V+ the +1 channels can be useful. For example if there were 3 programmes on at the same time you wanted to see. With Sky+ (Not sure how V+ works) you can get two of them, but you have to let one go, but with the +1 channels you can just record/watch it later.

It was ECW late night on Bravo wasn't it. WCW was on TNT which was on bang after Cartoon Network closed.

WCW was on Bravo in 2000/2001. I remember watching the final Nitro on it.
They did show ECW some time before that though.

What the heck!
Bravo is the ole time favorite, my dad will be getting rid of Sky if he has no Bravo.

They arent - in their eyes Bravo and Channel One equals Sky One with regards to the content and the audiences they muster...

Totally different content. Both have lots of police type shows and channel one has the world most amazing videos etc.

Going to miss them :(

But my favourite, Motorway Patrol :(

Not really it all aimed at very similar audiences - Sky would rather you be on their channels with costly content than on the others - means better ratings to improve advertising revenues etc...

The Bravo channels will be switched off on the 1st January.

It's not that big of a deal really because most of the popular shows are going to be spread over skys other channels.

Spartacus, Leverage, Chuck, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Star Trek (in all it's incarnations), TNA Wrestling, Sun,Sea and A&E, Motorway Patrol, Highway Patrol and Caribbean Cops are among those to be preserved.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/news/a289271/sky-confirms-bravo-shutdown-date.html

We will probably get to see them in HD as well.:)

Oh good good. Not seen Caribbean cops before.

Will be able to see them on virgin media still as well ofc. Having Sky 1 HD, Living HD etc

Virgin1/Channel1 was only created by virginmedia due to customers complaining when they dropped sky1/2 from the listings due to sky ramping up the costs to show it. I was expecting it to go much sooner even though I preferred channel1's content.

And so it closed, ending in a wimper of it's former glory with the World's Most Amazing Videos 3:(

Must addmit, when i got back last night, one of the first things i did was put on the tv and scan the epg with bravo's in mind. How sad to see they were dropping out on that.

The better days:

Knight Rider, Streethawk, Airwolf, Automan, Buckrogers, The Ateam, The land of the giants, The time tunnel, Mac Guyver... and the many more from timewarp tv.

Rip Timewarp Television.
