Some scum tried to break into my car last night by smashing the little triangle glass at the back on the passengers side. They never managed to get in so never took anything. They have however left a 8-10 inch scratch just under this glass which is too deep to t-cut out. If i was to get the glass replaced through my insurance by paying a £50 excess would they fix the scratch as a glass replacement claim or a seperate claim. It does state on my policy somewhere "including the repair of any resulting scratching of the surrounding bodywork as long as there is no cliam under any other section of this policy"

please advise

I have no idea I didn't write your policie's T'c & C's but I bet your insurance company did so why dont you phone them?

glass replacement guy is usually autoglass or similar, so whilst they'll do the glass they won't fix the paintwork.

Exactly another service would be used and since this is not part of the glass replacement I can't see how it would be covered without making a proper claim and paying your full excess.

I'll give them a call when i get a chance and see what they say but this is what is stated in my policy for windscreen cover.

Section 13 Windscreen cover

If the glass in the windscreen, windows or sunroof is damaged, we will pay for it's replacement or repair including the repair of any resulting scratching of the surrounding bodywork. As long as there is no cliam under any other section of this policy, any payment for glass replacement will not affect your no claims discount.

The wording of the glass cover in your T&C's seems to indicate they would repair that scratch as well. Only way is to get in touch with them.

I lost a passenger side window back in September just after I'd reverted to TPF&T, so had no glass cover :(. Also, Admiral (who I'm with) wouldn't cover sunroofs or surrounding bodywork as part of the same claim.

Having spoken to five different people at Zurich CS trying to explain the situation i finally got told that they will not cover the scratch on the car as it was not a direct result of the glass smashing (falling on the bodywork) and because the scratch was not linked to the actual glass frame but was on the quarter panel.

Well got it changed by Autoglass, now just need to put up a camera outside the house
