Ok, who's a good one to go with?

I used to be with GreenFlag, and they were great...they actually ran RAC vans to me when I broke down, and they were very nice.

What are people's views on the RAC? I know that the AA can be completely useless, hours to turn up etc.

Been with the AA for 10 years and they never let me down despite me being one of their most prolific users :D I recently changed to one through my insurer because AA Relay is £88 these days and the same recovery from my insurer is £27. Used it recently and it was fine.

I switch between AA and RAC each year to get new customer discounts but have only ever used the AA and that was 8 years ago. They came within an hour and did exactly what i expected.

So far all the ones I've checked it'll cost me like £80-£100 a year for breakdown assistance and recovery to home/destination. I used to be with one via Norwich Union (I'm sure it was green flag) and that was like £20 for a year.

I'll be driving an F Peugeot 205...so I may well need the cover :p but really don't want to be spending upwards of £35.

Recovery to home/destination will be important as I can carry out the majority of work on the car myself, but have no way of towing the thing if it breaks down whilst I'm at uni...or working 50miles from home :p

Try Norwich Union :) Me and my Mam are on a joint cover which has everything from homestart to onward travel for about £77. It is personal cover so it means we're covered in any car we're in too!

Had to use them when my key wouldn't turn in the lock  They turned up (RAC) in about 10-20mins and managed to get me moving...**PHEW** :o

BeatMaster :D

EDIT:// Try adding a parent as the main cover then add yourself on within the joint cover. It's not 'fronting' as with insurance as it's individual cover. The other way around with me as the main cover was £100+

Parents already have AA on their cars, so that way seems a bit silly really, as basically I'm paying for my mum to have 2 breakdown cover thingies when she only needs the one.

Been with the RAC for a couple of years, called them out last week for the first time as I managed to snap a driveshaft. Got there in an 1.5 hours, nice chap, towed me home and helped me push it up the drive and into my garage.
