US: Breaking Bad Season 5 Part II - The finale.

I think the ricin cigarette is the end of Walt. Self inflicted when he and Heisenburg are done with one another. I reckon him and Jessie fire it up together when the Nazi's are dead and neither of them have anything left but each other.

I can see him giving it to Jesse to give to him to kill him for all the wrong he has done to him.

Really enjoyed the outro music. Thought that was very well done.

I don't think I've ever liked a show so much where I've disliked pretty much all the main characters. The only character I liked was Saul, and I could bare hank. Gripping TV!

I just don't get how anyone could dislike Walt? I really think it's quite bizarre

He's the definition of an anti-hero, isn't he?

He has done some truly terrible things... Poisoning Brock, killing multiple people (including Mike, allowing Jane to die), not even mentioning what he's done to Jesse.... But Vince has managed to keep most of us on his side.

He's not even an anti-hero, he's just a horrible human being. Even Vince Gilligan have said he can't fathom why people still like Walt when he's writing him to be as unlikeable as possible.

Oh I know the stuff he has done is terrible, but I just think the character is so brilliant and so well done by Cranston that he's impossible to hate.

I love the character. Quite a few times, I've felt genuine sadness towards him, the Holly scene from two weeks ago, and the scene where he asks the guy to stay for a bit longer and sounds so sad when he says it. I'm going to be so gutted if/when he dies in the final episode :(

He's got a funny way of doing it then :p. A lot of the scenes in these last few episodes seem to suggest that they are trying to create some sort of feeling of sympathy towards Walt.

He's not a horrible human being though, you forgot all of what he has done has reason, watching jesses girlfriend die there was reason behind this (to protect him and jesse) Mike dying had reason too, you forget he was bullied himself into cooking meth for Gustavo.. he's protected jesse, and a lot of people around him, he's done what had to be done.

everything and every step he has taken had purpose, his intentions were good and still are, his family are number one, he doesn't care about himself, he's a mastermind.. he knows what he's doing.

Roll on the last episode.

Enjoyed that episode. Passed time wonderfully.

The ending was fantastic. Love the music.

Oh and these are my t shirts.

:D[/QUOTE]

Whats the quality like of those t shirts? Do they feel nice and cottony or like cardboard :p?

I swear I saw a Vince Gilligan wearing an tshirt with just a cartoon outline of Heisenberg but the ones I can find are all cheapo ripoffs of that one and look a bit crap.

There's no way he can redeem himself, no matter how much sympathy for him we feel. I can't bring myself to like him.

It went from a few cooks to an empire, not wanting to kill people to killing anyone in his way. He became greedy, manipulative and obsessed with power and control. He started off with good intentions, but as the cliche goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and Walt is in hell now. If he didn't get greedy and manipulative he would have been able to give his family that which he worked for. Now he can't and they all hate him.

Yes, morality is fluid and it's not black and white, that's what this show is really good at demonstrating, but Walter White is not a good guy. He's a terrible human being.

This, in my mind, is what the Gretchin/Elliot interview was all about.

After the conversation with Jr, Walter White was ready to give up, hand himself in... Roll over and die in jail.

But the interview reminded him that this has already happened... He'd rolled over, and someone else had taken credit for his work. His empire. It was a fast transformation, bringing Heisenberg back like that to reclaim his legacy.

+1 on that.

I'm also still firmly in camp Walt

Yep, he's not evil, he always had good intentions, which was basically help his family. He just got lost along the way and got so caught up in his goal that he lost all the rest of his morals.

It's kind of similar to Anakin Skywalker getting pulled to the darkside to try and protect his wife :p

I guess some people are just better at being able to go from real life to entertainment media mode in terms of emotions and morals. See a guy like Walt in real life would clearly be someone who would be hated by all, and quite rightly so, but in terms of TV, does it really matter? Who cares? It's not real and it's entertaining

Same reason I can quite happily put a bullet in a hookers head or wheel spin on an old mans head in GTA5 and not feel bad about it

OT

anticonscience, what's the quality of the tee's like dude?

They do feel nice and cottony lol, they are good quality t-shirts. I was a little skeptical about how good the quality would be, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

Looking at my order history, I went for the standard t-shirt fit.

Your realise that this is a preposterous argument, right? We can still be entertained by a monster. Part of the thing that makes Breaking Bad great is that it manages to convey the nuance of becoming that monsters, it's not black and white, it's all grey. In real life, we would be privvy to the choices that lead people down certain paths, so we get our twisted entertainment from watching a character change, evolve and adapt. Walter White is a bad man. And that what makes this show worth watching.
