Maybe in 1997, but not in the Populist/ Nationalist world of 2019; 20 years of drip fed faux anger at the EU in the Tory media. A GE would kill off the Tories for a generation.

    Ignorant.. or stupid?

Or totally into it and always have been? In which case I dunno.. liars?

I mean I have a view.. personally I'd go with in the closet racist that explains it to themselves with misplaced patriotism and victimhood.

    But that's just my view.

I know it would have to be something really really attractive to me to make me jump in bed with people who have demonstrably abhorrent views.. like being chill about child porn and climate change and pro lifers and whatnot.

It's also utterly incoherent to sneer at people for being liberal then want a pretty much fully liberalised and deregulated **** you buddy economy.

    Ignorant, or stupid.

Or genius? I dunno, maybe you've seen something we haven't that isn't just empty tedious soundbites that hold no water against the weight of facts and evidence.

History has proved time and time again if you wave the 'patriot flag' and tell people 'they' are attacking you then people will listen(eventually). It does not matter who 'they' are repeat the message often enough people will follow. It does not matter about the truth of the allegations it is simply you are being attacked in some way. If you have the media on your side then it is easy. Sadly it is usually the poorer/less educated elements in society that fall for this nonsense.

You’re forgetting that a good few tories have been abandoned by their local groups, meaning they have no chance of being elected again anyway.

Funny how that backfires... I fully expect Ken Clarke to fold soon, along with a a few others at least, meaning the tories lose majority and can’t govern at all.

    No deal is dead, lol.

It was just a default position, nobody was promoting it, so barely anyone specifically voted for it.

Pretty much just liars if saying otherwise.

I guess I've moved in my view from centre to centre-left.

Labour I've never liked, corbyn just compounds that. Mainly I want to stay in the EU. So I have no real choice but the LD but I do prefer them.

Also. Before LD was a wasted vote Might not be anymore

I gave up caring even before Brexit. People will do whatever they want. Including the so called leaders and establishment.

So Corbyn still refuses to back another referendum and loads of conservative MPs are trotting out the same old " this result tells us to get on and deliver brexit" line...

What is ******* wrong them? Do they not learn? Are they genuinely just stupid and have zero idea what to do?

You didn't watch the Lord Sacks interview on Newsnight from Thursday night to understand why that is? It pretty much sums up everything that's wrong.

So, remain clearly won in the EU elections then? Or have I missed something...

Remain wasn't even a party. Clearly, you've missed a lot...

They are adding all the parties votes up and that is counting as a resounding remain win...

That is what Ive seen through mainly social media

You have largely got to an accepted conclusion (there is a bit more nuance to it though) but....

Please stop getting news on social media....

Some discussion on this in the other thread. I don't think you can really conclude that.

I think the only conclusion that can be realistically drawn from the result is that there is no majority or mandate for a WTO/no deal brexit.
