I saw the sheets but since the headline said 'unveiled', I wrongly assumed that that was the final version but they hadn't taken the covers off.

Not sure on it, but was surprised to read that BA use paint rather than vinyl for their designs, is that in general on their fleet or for these one offs?

I suspect the paint is more suitable for the application than vinyl, as I'm not sure how vinyl would cope with the temperature changes etc.
It could even just be that the paint offers a better weight for the level of protection on the skin of the aircraft/smoother surface (and is less likely to peal off...).

I can't say the design appeals to me much, although it may look better from underneath when it's flying.
