British Gas - learning from the Banks?

The Consumer Price Index in December 2010 was about 4.0%. It would have pleased me if British Gas had gone for an increase in price of at or less than the CPI for what for most people is an essential; doing otherwise will simply fuel inflation.

Now why don't you stop misrepresenting me an get back to doing your "Ancient Mariner's" bit about German box cars? Incidentally, if their price went up by 50%, I really couldn't give a monkeys ;)

But the consumer price index looks across a broad spectrum of products, and British gas only sell a couple of included products, so why should they look at the general price change rather than the price changes of the products they sell?

It's all a government conspiracy, Margaret Thatcher is still secretly pulling the stings and Cameron is her puppet.
