hi guys,

i've sorta broken my chair in my mondeo mk3. Stupidly I sit down sometimes and if I've got a coat button that needs doing up I'll kinda lean back and put the pressure on the chair backwards, so now it's kinda snapped off the rails a bit.

the back part is fine but the base (where my arse sits) lifts up and wont stay flat. how's best to get this fixed? Can it be welded or is it new chair or will tie wraps work if I just wrap a few between the base and the rails on either side?

Cheers for any advice...

Better have some pics of your arse too, just to be sure

Wait, you are a girl right?

We don't all want to see them. Just email them to Bledd's trust email thanks. :(
He can then peruse them at his leisure.

D'oh!

I very much doubt the rails have come unbolted from the floor so something's probably snapped - new seat from a breakers is the easiest option!

Seems the quality of these isnt great, I've got a problem with mine which will apparently end with the back snapping and me driving lying down :(

The seat in my Mk2 Estate had a bit of play in it but didn't move by itself. I think I recall reading the Mk2 and Mk3 have some weak welds on the seat frame?

I broke a seat once in a Capri but that was with the help of a lady friend and a whole different story ;)

This happened to my aunts rover, actually ripped the captive nut out of the bracing in the floor like it was made of paper. It welded back together nicely though.

Just go to a scrap yard (or eBay) and get a new seat subframe, or so see a friend that is handy with a welder!

Yh despite being very comfortable, as Iand said, quality doesn't seem to be there. My electric adjustment doesn't work, very annoying.
