Quite specific. His details:
- driver for a couple of years. Still on his first year of insurance on his own.
- current car is a Zetec S
- he's 20 (21 September 2010)
- lives at home so MPG/costs aint too much of an issue
- works rotating shifts, each one is a 40 mile round trip.
- doesn't want a 'new' car, but doesn't like ones much older than ~3 years from the factory. Hence looking at 06 plates.
He wants something quicker and nicer than his Fiesta, seems to quite like Fords, but insurance is a limiting factor.
It's going to be a bit short of £3k for the year on the ST (so approx £1500 for the remainder of the year). I've suggested Z4s, 330is, M3s, etc., but everything I think of is either too expensive to buy or too prohibitive to insure with him being sub 21 and not yet having a year of no claims.
Please no posts about buying older cars (he doesn't want it, I've already suggested), or how spending £1500 is a waste of 6 months insurance (already done it; but to be fair his point about not spending his money on anything else other than 'going out' is reasonably valid. He doesn't care).
I'm honestly struggling to suggest anything better that's within roughly the same budget, insurance costs, performance, age etc.
Anyone?
