All over the world...
Yes i know its the daily fail but being bored at work i thought id have a look to see if there were any interesting stories. Remember this being reported when it happened last yr.

Link : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...s-appalling-sadistic-attack-jailed-years.html

Says in there that one of the boys was asked why he did it...his answer was that he was bored and there was nowt to do...

Just like the Bulger case a while back these 2 sadistic little ****'s will be out and protected by the taxpayers money...utterly disgusting if you ask me.

If you're looking to get angry at society then the Daily Fail is where to look.
Look at some happy news for once!

Tbh not really that angry just a bit perturbed but then im not really surprised at how low the sentences were....but i just find it disturbing that when they get out, they are protected by the taxpayers money which is what happened with the Bulger boys...once they had got out they got new id's and relocated.

Hard to know what to do really, keep them in jail for years at taxpayers expense, or relocate them at taxpayers expense?

Given what I've read of the psychological state of them, it'd be safer for everyone if it were jail.

it's minimum of 5 years i doubt they will serve that little.

Does the judge give out a minimum and a recommended? because all we ever hear is thew absolute minimum possible.

True but then i also read that one of the kids has changed remarkably since the attack ie is no longer devious etc etc. Which makes me wonder have they really changed or are they using it as a ploy to serve as little as time as they can.

Definitely broken britain at its best...when kids feel the need to torture and brutally attack other kids because they have nothing better to do.

Aye Tefal, the Judge has to give a Minimum a recommended and iirc the statutory sentence, and explain the reasons and law behind them.

The papers only ever seem to report the minimum sentence, which is one that is very unlikely to be how long is served unless the person changes massively (in fact one of the main reasons they even give a minimum sentence is because it means there is no chance of release after that, and it's a basic legal requirement).
The BBC tends to at least mention the recommended sentence, but not all the time.

So minimum sentence 5 years, likely sentence given it's inditerminat, and some of the comments from the professionals that the Judge has to listen to and base the decision on is probably a much much longer time (I get the impression one of them may never be released).

Some people might be suspicious of the papers motives when it comes to only ever reporting the minimum rather than recommended sentence (unless the person being sent to prison is a "hero" for some reason in the eyes of the paper), and never including any part of the reasoning that has to be given (by law) with the sentence.
Me, I wouldn't dream of suggesting that the papers only report what they want to report, and what fits in with their agenda.

It's an indeterminate sentence. They will not be released until it is agreed they are safe to do so. Considering their behaviour they'll be away possibly for the rest of their life.

I feel sorry for all four of them. I blame the father of the two boys who carried out the assault. I mean obviously what their dad did, and the way they were brought up played a major role in how they turned out. As to the "punishment" I'd call it 5 years of being brought up in a stable/normal environment and been given a chance at a normal life. Though the father should be the one who should serve a very, very long time for the mental and physical abuse he gave his wife/children.

The mother isn't much better. When journalists tried to talk to her, she shouted "They're nothing to do with me" through the letterbox (referring to the brothers who carried out the attack).

Ahh ok, not too clued up on sentences myself so seems like it has to be a minimum of 5 yrs they serve but could be longer..which then doesnt make it too bad i suppose...would be helpful if the papers/media actually said how long they would serve.

But then again people wouldnt get outraged if that was the case lol.

Any place you can find out the recommended sentence for these crimes (not just this one but any that appear in the news paper etc).

Would be interesting to see.

The BBC were quite clear about the sentence. Those children are seriously disturbed. They stopped the attack not because they felt guilty that their victims were covered in blood etc, but because their arms ached from throwing bricks and glass at them.

They will be away for a lot longer than 5 years.

So sad. :(

Who has failed this boys? Society? Parents?

It's such a sad story.

I would say its a mixture of both ie society and parents. Society because as its been stated in the original link...they had nothing better to do with their time so thought torturing a couple of kids would be a better option. Parents because again these kids were brought up in a house where there was porn and violent movies being played...also smoking and drinking were allowed...im sure the link said one of the brothers started smoking at the age of 9 or something:eek:.

It is a sad story and no kid should ever have to go through that ordeal...luckily they survived but im pretty sure they are scarred for life deue to the mental trauma and injuries they received ie scars etc.

Fair enough...my bad i should have read the BBC rather than the daily fail lol...i can only hope that they are put away for a long time as from what i have read they are a dangerous risk to society.
