Ok, so I have now done over 5k on these tyres, tread is still fantastic, although the back is squaring off, even though I do twisties on the way to work, the torque chucked out and the child in me combined = squared off tyre due to throttle smashing hehe.

So! Front one is fine, rear has maybe another 1k in it. Now, I am going for the 2ct's next, anyone got any pointers on them? I am going for them due to the higher profile being better suited for the ducati.

5k out of a BT016! You need to open the throttle a bit more, I got 5k out of my BT020!

I've read a lot of good things about the Michelins. Why not get another Bridgestone to last you until the front needs doing and then change to something different once you need to change the pair?

Could do... Didn't think of that.

Can't say anything about the Michelins but stay away from Pirelli Diablos. They're very good when it comes to gripping but after 1500 miles they end up like this...

If yer getting 5k on them dont bother with power 2cts . get road 2cts as there is more than enough grip . Done about 1500 miles on mine and loving them to bits .

Burnouts and sliding it in surely lol, just from looking at the blueing!

A bit of backing in and hard riding but no burnouts. ~The stock Dunlops which are renowned for being made of cheese lasted over 3k on the rear and the front is still the original on about 5k miles!
That blue stuff shows up on the tyres edges after the bike has been sitting for a week. I never could figure out what it was apart from being slippery as hell. My first ever proper 2 wheel drift happened because of that blue stuff. What is it?

You will absolutely love 2CT's. :D

They are, without a doubt, THE best hoops I have used to date. Grippy, last for ages and unlike some tyres I have used previously, they don't go "off" about halfway through their lifespan and start to slip and slide and track over white lines/cats eyes.

I've had umpteen sets of Mich 2CT's on my RSV and I simply can't see past 'em now. Pretty good value for money too.

Word of advice though, pay attention to tyre pressures with 'em. Michelin recommend that you don't use your bike manufacturers stated pressures from the manual with 'em. They recommend their own pressures which are much lower than bike manuals state from the manufacturer.

E.G. Aprilia manual states 36F/42R but Michelin state 32F/36R for 2CT's.

Michelin tyres have the stiffest carcass, followed by Dunlop and finally Pirelli.

Looks like a heat related problem one example is an under inflated tyre but for sure it's not good or safe due too sliping.

The tyre is doing too much work for some reason or the other.

Heat cycles, so yea that would cause it, backing it in etc then sitting for a week, but should last longer than 1.5k though! I got more than that from a Corsa 3 with 130bhp powering it, and i liked sliding too :p probably why my rear never lasted 3k

Well, I have opted against the renewel of the rear and will just run the tyres in as much as possible. It has been dry today and last night and the sun is shining, if its still shining at 4, I'm going for a ride from work out to oxford to really rag the bike as it's going in for a 12k service on saturday so may as well make the most out of it.

Maybe some knee down as well, to my fave roundabout!
