An ISP once told me every 6 months - WTF? I've seen them working fine for years so would only change them if you notice a drop in connection speed or noise on the line. Just make sure you have good quality ones.

I think I'll leave mine at the moment, I daren't touch it just in case something goes wrong.
 
Had this problem most of this year, finally got it fixed about 6 weeks ago.
Apparently the stuff in the cab got water damaged (:confused:) or thats what BT tell me.

Anyway, if you checked the filters its probably their problem, although they will mess around for months (or a year, in my case) because its cheaper then replacing equip :(
