Anyone got it too?

Few weeks ago, my mum received a call from BT, she was asked whether we are happy to accept discount for BT Yahoo broadband. She told BT that I have agreed to it. It was for £3 off every month but I thought it was strange that BT are calling everyone.

A week later, I received a letter saying that we have agreed to 12 months contact. I was bit surprised as I didn't know about 12 months contact when we agreed to it.

Looking back, now that BT have introduced new broadband packages and customers like me can not have it because we have agreed to 12 months contact?

I don't know but what's the big deal with 12 months contact especially that I have been using BT broadband for more than 2 years? Something fishy?

Its standard really.

Like mobile phone, cable tv etc. Internet is just one of those things that means you have to stay with them for a year.

Also it means that BT will get cash from your subscription for a minimum of 12 months. Say you didn't like it after 6 months, you would still ahve to pay all 12 before you can stop paying, just good business sense on BT's side.

You have (iirc) 14 days to cancel a contract. if they didn't specifically mention a 12 month contract on the phone and you did not respond to their corrospondence you can cancel the contract by saying that you never agrred to it.

Yes you can you can move within any BT Option still within contract period. Only thing you cant do is cease/move to another ISP within the term.
