BT Have Routed a Cable Across My Bedroom Window

I woke up this morning and opened my bedroom blind to find that yesterday BT have routed a cable above my front garden and about 1.5m to 2m in front of my upper floor bedroom window. I never noticed it when I got in yesterday as it was dark outside.

Obviously I'm not happy about this as they never asked permission and I don't even have a live BT line in my house.

I'm gonna phone them up later and go nuts at someone but am wondering if anyone knows what my rights are in this situation or whether it's happened to anyone else on here?

I could be wrong but if it is just suspended in the air above your property and the fixings at either end are not on your property there is nothing you can do about it.

Don't 'go nuts'; just ask 'em nicely to rectify the problem. You'll probably get farther that way.

It's perfectly normal

We have one outside our front bedroom window too. How do you propose they get it to your neighbours house otherwise?

If it’s coming from a pole or across the road from another property then there is not a lot you can do. If you really want to take it further then give them a call.

there's nothing illegal about having a bonfire in your own garden right? Even if it happens to be directly under the cable?

You made is sound like they had clipped a cable accross the front of your window stopping you from being able to open it...

Spose it could be a touch annoying, but I doubt you'd have even noticed it if it had been there all along..and what's the alternative? Putting another telegraph pole in directly opposite your neigbours house and going to that, an then straight across? Would've thought that that'd be worse...

I'd be annoyed if there was a cable that was going to swing about in the wind outside my window.
I think it's in his line of sight rather than going to be slapping against his window  what difference does it make if it swings about in the wind half way across his garden?

The other day a bird landed on our roof, I was ******* Livid

Bird will fly away though. I guess some of us are brought up in nice areas, my home and the surrounding houses are not allowed aerials on the roof to keep the place looking nice. I know my mum would be pretty annoyed if there was a cable that went across our garden. No telegraph poles round here though so not really an issue.
