BT HD quality via broadband

if you look here suggests BT's IPTV HD (this word hides a multitude of sins) is 1440 and not 1920 (x1080i) , so it is off to a bad start compared to satellite.
But who know what bitrate they have compared to the >10Mb/s you would get off of hd satellite or whether their iptv rate is is adaptive, so being downgraded due to your particular broadband connection
(The thread comment that BT sd is better than sky is interesting too.)
Presumably you set-top box is a wired connection to the modem/router too ?; if it is powerline - maybe that is the problem.
Does Iplayer (HD) look good in comparison ? -

I can confirm that BT SD is indeed decent, both via IP and satellite, think I read that thread before
, I forgot to compare with iplayer tbf, I have the box direct cabled via gigabit to router. I've cancelled it this morning, the deal was ok & I had planned to upgrade my TV to 4k in the near future & in the interim watch HD channels via IP/Bt box as my current solution No amount of emoticons make discussing pirating content OKMy best guess is they need to cater for people on Infinity 1 watching 4k and perhaps recording an HD channel simultaneously + browsing............ from memory I think 4k was using circa 29 mbps, HD I`m sure I`ve seen reported as 8mbps , watching HD soccer with lots of movement is a terrible experience compared to satellite equivalent, tbf BT feed from events looks great via satellite, shame they cant provide the same experience via IP.

nope, cant get a 4k box if you're on infinity 1. BT wont give you one. I know, i tried. Not for the 4k, i wanted the 1tb of storage the youview+ box provides, but BT would not budge. Would have only cost me an extra quid a month

£1 would have been worth it , just.
, though you would then have a 4k TV to buy.Still got to come down ure pipe, so to speak.Higher data rate = better picture, typically.
yes this corroborates your 8Mb/s HD bandwidth memory.
They appears to use a constant bit rate for hd (4k too?), maybe that simplifies the multicast resource planning or the hardware in the box (ram for buffer - how much do they have) versus vbr on satellite where they can give higher bandwidth for action scenes.
If bt have catch-up/downloaded services (for their sport/movies) maybe they are not similarly emasculated (indeed are the sky satellite downloaded streams the same as they broadcast or better)
...no one is handing out a 4k tv for free yet then ? (with a life time contract - first son ... etc)

Personally I think football (soccer whats that ???!!!!) on BT is fine. BT Ultra HD football is superb. Dont forget you have to factor in the quality of your TV too. I also think BT Sport HD picture quality is better than Sky HD Sports. BT HD freeview channels are definitely better than Sky HD equivalent channel. Also dont forget that link on av forums is over a year old. Things might have changed. *actually update I just viewed the streams and it seems accurate.
Going to watch a match via Now TV on Sky Sports, Sunday, so be interesting to see how good the picture quality is.

yeah ure right, it is indeed football lol, you SURE ure watching it via IP? , it really is poor imo, I can massively tell the difference, whereas via satellite I`d say BT PQ was better than Sky.
Can't say I've noticed that with my Mini boxes, but they are hard wired via ethernet.
