Right firstly i am making a gaming PC for my friend for £400. Hes not a hardcore pc gamer at all hes a console gamer, but he needs his PC for his uni course, since he uses the unreal 3 editor to create games for his course.

So one of the main games is unreal 3 :P. I have selected a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 512 mb. He will be running games on a 20 inch monitor, but i think this card should be enough to power unreal tournie 3 and other games nicely.

Im just wondering is it worth getting 4850 ? or a 9800 GT instead ??? at the moment the 4670 is £65 on ocuk and my mate wouldnt want to spend more than £110ish on a graphics card MAX !!!

Does he already have a monitor?

I recently build a PC for a friend for £500 with a 22" monitor.

The specs where:

Core 2 Duo overclocked to 2.8Ghz (can't remember which CPU it actually was)

2GB RAM
500GB Samsung HDD
22x Samsung DVD writer
Powercolor HD 4850 512MB
500w Coolermaster PSU
Coolermaster Case
MS keyboard and mouse
22" LG LCD monitor

You should be able to get away with something like that for £400 if he's already got a monitor.

4830 is far better value for money than 4850 - 10% slower, 20%+ cheaper.

(Sorry, I realise I'm harping on a bit about the 4830 :D, but seriously, for the budget minded, it's the card to go for).
