Build advice to a budget.

Hello!
If you need help assembling it i can pop round to help if you like. I live in lincoln too (Bunker's Hill area - not far off Wragby Road Tesco).
So coincidental that i was going to build a pc identical to yours (minus ssd, aftermarket cooler and keyboard) within the next couple of months as my x4 620 4850 system doesn't cut it anymore! Small world! Would like to see help you for my own sake as well. I've got 0 experience with ssds though - never even touched on; rest of the build should be easy peazy.
Let me know if you're interested.

Surprising how many Lincolnshire peeps here! Good luck with the build OP, post pics if you're able, helps delay the upgrade itch for us afflicted forum dwellers for a few more days :-)

Haha thanks for the offer, I will keep it in mind. I have read 2 guides now from top to bottom, printed them out. Watched numerous videos etc. hopefully I should be good to go. I was going to order tonight, but I have just seen my mobo I wanted is out of stock!! Is there any way to check how long it will take to be back in, or does anyone know how long it normally takes?

I don't think I can wait! :p I want to get stuck in.

1 x Akasa AK-CC4007EP01 Nero 3 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011/AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1) £23.99
1 x OcUK Black Gaming Keyboard (5105GU) £10.99
Total : £781.91 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Adjusted the spec to get an Xfire capable mobo in (it's due tomoz), it has THX rated audio too, so should sound good. There is cheaper memory but I've tried to keep a coloured theme. The heatsink is slightly cheaper too, to help offset this.

The offers change on wednesday. So the SSD will increase in price most likely as will the CPU. So waiting for that GB mobo to come into stock could well do you more harm than good......that said I dont know what will come on offer next.

Hope this helps

Yeah that's what I assumed about the deals

Thanks for the alternative. I assume that's all compatible, that's probably a stupid question. :p

I'll have a read of that mobo and order tonight if all looks good.

Thanks hono, I think I prefer the gelid cooler with the grey blades and grey ram on a black/grey mobo not sure thought. I assume they are both usable. What would you pick?

Video was very informative. Read some nice reviews also. Do you know if it has a mouse usable bios?

The RAM isn't in stock though :(

Yes that mobo has UEFI BIOS which is controlled by mouse :) You might notice the fan shroud on the GPU is grey. I use the genesis RAM myself, it's looks matte grey in the pics but it is actually metallic. Thought it would look good myself, had the LP corsair vengenance been available I might have spec'd that, depending on price.

That's a nice setup, I like the CPU cooler, pretty swish. Ok well I'll probably go with the genesis and either of the two coolers, i will make my mind up at the check out :) thank again for all your help. I will definitely get some pics up. And no doubt I'll ask a few more q's when it all comes ;)

Remember you get a stock cooler with the CPU, so you can ommit the heatsink for now, if it's playing havoc with your budget.

If you fancy doing a build log then your post count will increase plenty :) 90 days and 250 posts = free P&P. You could always cop a heatsink you really want later with the free P&P, or try and cop it as a gift come crimbo lol

Once you have done the build you actually might fancy going back to tidy up the cables, clean the fans and filters etc months later. You'll have more confidence in what you are doing and this would be a good time to swap in the aftermarket heatsink.

I have taken your advice and decided to stick with the stock one until i get a bit more confidence and can have a good look at whats available to pick a nice cooler which comes recommended and looks good. That way i can find my way round the system and have a good play with things and pick something i fancy with a bit more money maybe.

I have sorted my cart out again, and i'm just about to go for it. Just need a quick confirmation that its good to go. :D

Edit: i'm definitely not going to need any extension cables or brackets am i?

I have another couple of questions also!

#1 I have read that the asrock is not atx size? and doesn't fit as securely as a normal sized mobo due to its slightly smaller size, should this cause me any trouble (it looks so nice)

#2 Is that ssd drive Sata 2 or 3? im probably asking things to early before i have read the manuals but hey, its always nice to know early on.

Good to go mate but that 7850 GPU has shot up £20 :( Did you want a cheaper alternative or are you happy with that GPU?

The Zalman Z9 comes with an extension for the aux 4/8 pin. I've used that PSU in the Z9 the other cables are long enough too. The reviews for that PSU do say the cables are on the short side but this is only an issue if you have a much bigger case.

That's the baby mobo you are talking about. I spec'd the ATX size mobo, it will fit in the Z9. The SSD is sata3 so you use the sata3 ports on the mobo (the grey ones).

That's the one i spec'd bud

Arghh no way!, thats all my double checking! well i dont know now. Is it still the best value for money card at around that price range?

Well considering i have received a whole lot of help and its one of the most helpful pc build forums i have been on i think im going to go for the frozer 3 :) what the hell.

So the £124.99 mobo is the one i want.

Sorry to double post, I'm wanting to order ASAP and although I'm 99% sure the mobo I want is the 124.99 one I just need to double check, it's in my nature.
