Burial

theyre are to dubstep as pendulum are to drum and bass

there album got a hell of allot of praise though

im pretty clueless about dubstep apart from going to a few nights but checkout stuff by skream, caspa, rusko, the caspa+rusko fabriclive cd is one of best cds i bought last year! (not bad considering i bought it by mistake )

well i said i was clueless... its not my genre at all

i mean that "hes" used to describe a whole genre by people who dont really know what theyre on about like pendulum are used to describe drum and bass by the same sorta people

i like "burial" more than "untrue"

Ah right, can see what you're saying, I took it to be:

Pendulum = crap dnb

Thus -> Burial = crap dubstep

My bad!

Although I'd say you're more likely to find that people who like Burial are into proper dubstep, than people who like Pendulum being into proper drum and bass. Burial is still very closely tied in with the dubstep scene.

any dubstep mix cd recomendations ?

that fabriclive caspa and rusko cd is pure filth. went to see skream and rusko in the toon and that was also pure filth so been going to dubstep nite every now and again (electro upstairs anyway so its ace for me) thats about as far as my dubstep knowledge goes...

i just love any sort of music with crazy basslines to be fair. especially in digital/fabric

Mary Anne Hobbs presents the warrior dubz is a pretty well known dubstep introduction cd.

Skream has a lot of good mixes, on Rinse FM/BBC/etc etc

I don't know too much with mixes, but in terms of artists:

Benga
Kode9
Rustie
Cotti
Digital Mystikz
Loefah
Shackleton
Cluekid
Geiom
Pinch
Mala
Distance
Boxcutter
Youngsta
D1
Plastician

All big bassy acts.

Also don't forget appleblim the other half with shackleton of skull disco records. They have the soundboy punishments CD which is a comp of stuff on their label.

Burial is awesome. Untrue was the most listened to album of 2007 for me...

Carzy do you know when the Benga album is out?

Also, how could you forget Vex'd!

Don't like Vex'd, that's how :p

Don't know the actual release date for Benga, I've got the promo but haven't properly listened to it yet. What I have heard has sounded good though.

Indeed, it is awesome. The first CD I got as part of my fabric live sub.

Is Burial still a totally anonymous guy, or did it get out who it is?

I bought Untrue a couple of months ago, can't say I've listened to it an awful lot though. :/

I'll have to have a hunt for it, I know someone who gets a lot of Planet-Mu promos...

I'm surprised you don't like Vex'd tho, their album is one of my faves... Each to their own tho. :)
