Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box

I'm not getting my hopes up for this game untill people have played it, we have a few bad console ports of late. This is published by ea, the same people who published need for speed undercover and the same people who said pc couldnt handle next gen fifa.

Its not a straight up port.

Criterion Studios have worked hard on this.

they are obviously more than happy with the PC version as they are letting players download the 'trial', which is basically the full game, to sample it before buying... how many other companies would do that if the product wasnt up to scratch..

i was even contemplating a pre-order from EA Stink , then i came to my senses and decided i'd grab a copy elsewhere, ... shame Steam didn't get this release also.

i truly hope you need a unique serial code to play online..

Im still undecided on what platform to get it for, either pc or xbox360.
Ive got the spec to play the game at max settings on 1920x1600 and i do have a xbox360 controller.

Correct, they've spent a hell of a lot of time getting this up to scratch, remember this is Criterions first PC game and when they first announced it (via 5 guys in a crappy little lounge in their studios) they really did state their intentions to get it right. Yer, it does have EA on the box and I'm thinking the same (mainly o no) but I think if anyone is gonna make a decent transition from console to PC (not a port lol) then its gonna be Criterion.

And they're brits so we gotta support them (thats Criterion, not EA )

Criterion will do it properly, they have always produced very high quality stuff, and all the updates to the games are great, they're really a developer who's got it right.

I have quite a few Burnout PS2 games, the main reason why I still have a PS2 infact!

Can't wait until this is released, my rig should be able to play it very nicely, and online looks like it's going to be ace.

Anyone know where/when we can pick up the demo? I heard discs would be distributed, but not sure where to pick one up.

yep got mine pre ordered for £25, i seem to remember some site saying it runs 1920x1200 maxed @ 60fps on a 8800gt, we shall see i guess

This and the rumoured Street Fighter 4 PC release are the games I'm most looking forward to this year tbh - even Dragon Age doesn't get me as excited!

Has anyone else noticed, though, that every e-tailer has this priced the same as the console versions? It ticked me off a bit personally, as there isn't a fee to the platform holder for PC games like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft collect for console games, so it seems like EA are cheekily trying to milk it a bit.

I still want it, but I might not buy it on release because of this. Not that £25 is a lot of money for a new AAA release, but it hits the wrong buttons.

If anyone finds it cheaper than that somewhere it'd be nice if you post it here!

If that's true, then it just means that the console version is cheap, not that the PC version is expensive.

For the amount of fun it looks like, £25 is peanuts..

Pre-ordered mine for £25 today :)
