Burns Night - Haggis!

Who else will be having Haggis today? I tend to eat it throughout the year, not just on Burns Night anyway.

Tonight I'll be having a Ramsay Haggis. It's just a shame that this far south, no butchers locally make kill them fresh so I have to buy a mass produced one.
 
Sadly it's not possible to get a haggis supper down here (I do love battered haggis) but I'll do the next best thing and grab a portion of chips from the chippy to go with mine.
 
What is this heathen talk of 'making' haggis? Surely the only way to make a haggis is to get a mummy haggis and a daddy haggis who love each other very much .........

I wasn't overly impressed with my Ramsay one, it was a bit bland. Stan, what are the Crombies haggis like?
 
Burns Night again today and I'm having free range haggis from Crombies in Edinburgh as recommended by @Stan_Lite.

I'm quite sure I've got plenty of Scottish gins so it'll be accompanied by a Scottish G&T (I can't drink whisky).
 
We eat it quite often during the year - It's not an attractive food to photograph though!

Whenever I get to Edinburgh, I always manage to get a haggis supper from the Clamshell. I'm sure @Muban would approve :)

Just a couple of days before it's Burns Night again.

This year I've got two haggis from Galloway Quality Meats defrosting in the fridge. They were ordered about three weeks ago along with some haggis and steak pies which I've already eaten and were really good. I often find haggis pies to be either lacking in filling or a bit dry but these were neither, they were stuffed full and nicely moist.

The haggis were frozen straight away as soon as they were delivered so 48 hours in the fridge should be plenty for them to be defrosted for Tuesday evening.

haggis is pre-cooked so all you're doing is warming it up. It makes no difference how you get it from cold to hot, we just take it out of the casing, break it up and bung it in the microwave for a few minutes until it's toasty hot. Then put it in a dish, add a knob of butter and some pepper and throw it under the grill for a few minutes to get as hot as the surface of the sun before serving.

I can't say I've ever noticed a bad smell while it's cooking.
 
some thinly sliced haggis as a pizza topping ?
I've had haggis on pizza at home, it works well. Not sliced though, just broken up and placed over the pizza.

This was how I was served haggis pizza in Glasgow once.

Tonights haggis from the place in Dumfries was really good, I'll be buying that again.
 
Burns Night comes around again.

We’ve got this huge haggis from a butcher in Scotland. It’s been cut into three and will be three good meals for us.

No neeps in the Feek household, it’ll be served with a pile of mash and gravy.
