Is anyone or has anyone studied this at uni? Im to start it on 24th September and kinda missed the tutorial for booze related reasons (smart i know) So basically wouldn't mind what the next 4years of my life will be involving if anyone could help out?

cheers

Business Studies is a less theoretical version of Economics. You'll learn about management (and to the delight of many) before you've actually managed anyone and hence will largely be useless.

After four years, if you graduate with a good degree you stand a very good chance of getting employed (look at the websites like prospects.ac.uk for proof).

Business studies can be interesting at times and is a mix of watered down economics, sociology and management. You're an expert at nothing, but some of the stuff you learn will be useful. You're likely to be taught management and financial accounting (much of which you'll relearn if you take any professional exams).

I probably own most of the text books that will be your recommended reading lists, and non of them are actually very useful.

Good luck though,

Well i'd kinda like to do well and have a decent idea of what i'll be facing to have a lookup early. Its not business studies, its Business Information Technology, though i assume it'll be along the same lines as what you posted.

Business Information Technology is an attempt to convince you that learning **** all about computer science whilst learning more about "business" will put you in a position to manage a group of computer science graduates. This isn't going to happen.

IMO you have two choices:
1) Do it and enjoy your years at uni, drink lots etc.. in fairness you will get a job
2) Switch to CS and actually learn something

This is how I see it "a while back a bunch of lecturers got to together and realised, okay people, they want more people at university, we can't teach them CS as they'll need good alevels in maths for a start. Right lets tone it down, add some management nonsense and call it Business Information Technology, that'll work".

No offense and well done on getting on to the course but courses like B.I.T are a joke IMO.
