ive noticed you can buy a house for sub £10,000 in america, just starting to research into this but if i did buy one whats the chance of being able to rent it out, or is the market fail ?

Avoid places prone to tornados, apparently american houses are not made to withstand them, or so I heard.

With a solid business case like this and a deep understanding of the market, how could you possibly fail?

My dad has a holiday house in Florida, lettings have dropped quite significantly over the last 2 or 3 years, don't think the rentals even cover the mortgage at the mo.

The houses for £10k are likely to be on Eight Mile road in Detroit, in glorified sheds in the deep south, etc.

Save your money - do some research.

Every crack den you buy comes with resident ho who will pay in kind. Bullet holes add character and create a gentle breeze.

You may well be able to buy a house for 10k but will you be able to find a tennant that is able to afford to pay the rent.

Look at it this way if they cant afford to buy then your not going to get much of an income from them.

There were houses selling in Detroit for $500 last year. Someone here was presenting his idea of buying one as a holiday home. I have no idea if he went through with his "plan" or not but can guess ;)

It's true that the property price is low and in my opinion that effects the 'rent' too. This is because a person ca easily get a loan which will payout his own house instead of renting one. Or you would have to set very low rent (which will still be of no profit to you)
