What on Earth is she doing with it? Excuse the generalisation but most people spend all their time in web browsers and word processors, which work exactly the same.
She plays around with everything in windows and loves to make a mess of it......(I guess the same thing goes for most people on this forumWhat on Earth is she doing with it? I think quite a few people are wondering the same thing. Given that some people are running the preview of Windows 8 rather than an older OS, and it will require a full install for the release version we are going to buy, I rather think a clean install will be allowed. I hope so because I don't fancy installing Windows 7 and then upgrading if I need a new hard disk!
not long to go to find out though... so fingers crossed...
I think I will install Vista (came with the Dell lappy) just in case it takes my XP license and turns it into a W8 license. I'd rather lose my Vista license than XP.
Thanks..Have installed start8 nowHave you tried Start8? It basically makes the desktop very similar to Windows 7 and you also have boot to desktop too.
In addition, all the MUI stuff is also there.

Thanks..Have installed start8 now
What was MS thinking by removing the start menu.......
I also been playing around with windows 8 for last few hours and i also think it horrible and I will be sticking with W7

having tried win8 I'll stick with win764bit as win8 hasn't really sold itself. Win8 good for tablets et al. Just lacks something on the desktop.
From previous experience win9 will be the better version.
XP and win7 good.
Vista and win8 a bit meh.
Win9 will be interesting
I think Microsoft is to blame for some of the problems as they have been selling the idea of Windows 8 as a tablet OS and have, to a large part ignored in their sales pitch, the other benefits.
