Just noticed this one, its 25 years, however if you had a dent repaired, polish the car (cut a layer of laquer), stone chips sprayed it will void the warraty. Merc us a paint gauge to measure its thickness, if all panels dont match or conform to manufacturers limits. The warranty is void!
 
Thanks for all the advice, it has been very helpful. I'm going to make a note of all the key points and look for them when we're car shopping :).
 
Unless you know what you are looking at, I'm not sure I'd want to start getting into 'proper' Mercs at this price point and age. I would say if you find a car you are really keen on, it's worth having it inspected if you can't really do it yourself.
