Buying a car with no tax.

Considering its only got 4 months MOT left, id suggest asking the bloke to get a fresh MOT done before you buy it, make it a condition of you buying the car and offer to add the cost of the MOT to the total

With a car of that age, he could well be looking to shift it before the MOT because he knows it will not pass

SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HELL MAN?

The car is a £350 banger! Do you want him to ask for a personal chauffeur as well!?

just buy the car on ebay
go down have a look
if its ok give him his money phone insures get insured
drive home

stop worrying about tax, if you have your section of the v5 and insured the police are hardly going to press the issue.

Bought my car a couple months back and drove it a couple hundred miles back and taxed it after the weekend. Hopefully there's no ANPR / tax checking on the m5 back from birmingham to southwest.

Same happened with my car. Insurance sent me a cover note through email so we nipped to the nearest post office and shown them the cover note from my phone, then the mot and V5.

Tax was given. Then kindly asked them to send the V5 off for me.

Then headed back to England with my newly taxed car with ing to worry about.

I have read that downloaded printed documents are acceptable, photocopies are not. How they tell I do not have a clue as most modern photocopiers give results equal to the original document.
My insurance documents are all on line as .pdf, I do not get any in the post.

'main' post offices just go off the insurance database for tax anyway . And I've never had trouble with email print offs at or local village one
