Buying a car with partial service history

We went for a test drive in the car earlier and it drives fine. Biggest concerns really are no old MOTs and no service history past 44,000 miles. The price has taken this into account though considering similar cars from other garages with service history which cost around £1k more.

Found out the warranty is provided by Motorplan and it seems to include a large majority of items - whether they honour this when it's needed is another issue though.

My gut is saying to walk away :\

yep walk away, could have been clocked and the seller is trying to hide the history, cars a serviced for a reason walk!

It's a bog standard car straight out the box, Just find another there'll be hundreds.

That's the thing though - there aren't hundreds. There are maybe 3 worth looking at within a 50 mile radius. Most of them are more than she's willing to pay and a replacement car is needed ASAP as her current 106 headgasket has gone for the second time.

I'm going to get the v5 document reference number and check previous MOT's. Should at least validate the mileage - although the condition of the car does seem to tie up with the mileage.

So she can't afford an Ibiza Cupra 20VT so instead wishes to try and buy a cheap dodgy one to enable her to drive a car she can't afford.

This is a bad idea, get her to buy something else.

Leave it. Just wait for another. I sent a car back for this reason (although not directly similar, I'd wait for a car that has been cared for and can be sold easier)

Travel further, this always makes me laugh, the second biggest purchase of your life after a house and people wont drive 100 miles.
