Buying an LG OLED - Best time to buy for pricing?

So good so far, bit of a faff to setup as you need another pair of hands to lift and position it. Having to explain what lift ‘on three’ actually means :D

Not sure how we survived on 28” TVs as kids, my 3 year old daughter was speechless when she saw it haha.

Will have a proper play with it over the next few days, but pleased with its out-of-the-box performance at this stage.

My trusty 9 year old LG C7 is now needing replaced. Washed out colours on both extremities at sides of the screen, only really noticeable when watching sports but now I've noticed it, I know it's going to bug me.

I'm very out of touch these days with all things TV & OLED. I'm going to stick with LG, don't need the latest model range and I don't need the best model in the range.

Conscious it's a World Cup year which may distort things, but other than "Black Friday", is there generally a "best time" of year to buy when you don't need the latest offerings?

Thanks!

I bought mine when Quidco did a £300 cashback offer on LG TVs which was stacked on top of a promotional price. Was an absolute steal in the end and cashback paid out no problem a few months later. Worth keeping an eye out as Quidco seem to do various offers with certain retailers quite frequently.

I was set on a g6 at some point but I see a G5 at a good discount I think it will be too difficult to turn down, only after a 55" as thats all I can accommodate in the area it goes, its still huge , I find it funny when people act like 55" tvs are tiny. they really are not, its all about the size of a room.
G5 55" is about £1549 with codes, still think that will drop some more in the coming weeks hopefully.

Depends, but over a year when new models comes the old usually drop 3 times each year.
before big sport events, black friday, and holidays.

Do we think the the lg g5 55” could drop even more, currently cheapest is £1499.

Im wondering what the G4 dropped to last year when the g5 launched?

The G4s went very cheap last year; when I bought my 65" in Nov 2024 it was £1,800 but they were below £1,500 around this time last year and the 55" one was closer to £1k.

Yeah I really want a G or maybe a C if the price is too much of a kid in the made. Seen both and they look incredible but I'm also only after a 55"

Yeah the G4 65"went as low as £1400.
Lets not forget the unicorn deal. 65 M4 for 1175!

Im sure it will be an amazing screen.. The problem is will it fit in your living room without looking ridiculous..

Will we be seeing a pic on r/TV too high soon?

Hehehhe

That 83 inch OLED will be godly, enjoy :)

I do like OLED, I have a 55 inch LG one I got around 3 years ago and it's been great so far. But my front room isn't big enough for anything larger than 55 inch so I have to 'make do' with a laser projector if I want 100 inch size screen. It's actually really great, more relaxing on the eyes too.

Nowhere near as crisp and vivid as an LG OLED though.

Getting my G6 next week, looks like Tuesday or Wednesday at this stage

but tbh if you can get a deal on a G5 then get a G5, there isnt much between the G5 and G6, the G6 is mainly just a better anti reflective coating but performance wise they are nearly identical

If I can’t get the G5 for a good price, I’m tempted by the G6.

Can stack a few codes on the LG website to get the 55” G6 for about £1,800, but only 1 year warranty

I'm personally holding out for a 42 C5 to replace my 49" ultra wide. The cheapest I've seen it was on RS for £649. Back to 749-849 now. It's below 600 from LG direct but only the 1 year warranty. Giving it another week or 2 but might bite at the 649 when it drops next.

C5 55" has been all over the place last few weeks. Was down to £999 @ RS, then back up to £1,199 and is now down to £1,099.
