Hello,

I could be buying a new PC today and need some last min. advice.

I had limited myself to a mATX HTPC case and as such had decided on a

Asus M3A78-EM AMD 780G (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

However, I’ve now decided to get a Silverstone case that can take full size boards…

I’ve decided to get an AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz (Socket AM3), given I can now get a full size board would I be better getting a different board?

Trying to build the PC for as cheap as possible, mainly used as a HTPC, butt would like the option to game in the future. Ideally spend £80-90 on the motherboard. I’ve already got a Intel machine so would like to try AMD as I’ve read good things about the new CPU.

Advice appreciated as I’ve only read about the 780G Chipset.

Cheers

what kind of GPU do you have?
Or is playing games going to require a future upgrade too?

How about an Asus M4A78 PRO AMD 780G (Socket AM2+/AM3) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard? It is £90.84 which is just over your ideal price.

Going for on-board graphics at first, i've got a 48701GB i'll use in it when i upgrade my main PC.

Is the 780G a good match for the PhenomII, thats my main worry.

Thanks
