C&C Generals freezes at Splash Screen?

Hi folks...

I installed C&C Generals, and updated to the latest patch (1.08) but the game will not start

I don't want to play ZH as It's too confusing for me!

Any ideas whats wrong?

I've tried running in Compatability mode for 2000 and still no joy.

I've got the original CD obviously, and tried it in both my drives, no joy.

I double click the icon, it comes up with the splash screen, then just stays on it for about a minute, then goes back to windows.

Any ideas?

uninstall, reinstall and dont patch.

Try loading the game then and see if it works!

If not, come back and post again

Got any firewalls running. Try disabling them on start up.

im pretty certain i had the same problem when i first installed it, i think it was down to either patching the game and updating my gfx drivers. (7800GTX)

Ill have a look around and see if i can find anything regarding your setup causing problems with the game.

Thanks for your help, I just re-installed it, still no joy.

I've even tried setting affinity to just 1 CPU etc

Fixed...!

What I did was delete the folder "Command and Conquer Generals Data" in my MY DOCUMENTS folder.

And it all works fine now
