Cages outside pub?

Hey,

I'm off to Belfast tomorrow, but I thought I would check out the city briefly on Google Street maps before we arrive.

Here is a picture of the Hostel I'll be staying at;

What are the cages for? :confused::eek:

isnt it to stop unwanted people entering? and maybe to stop all the pushing to get through the door?

probably security aswell, if someone tried braking in, they have to go through the cage aswell as the door.
 
Control people entering the bar afaik. Belfast still has it's less than salubrious areas. City centre isn't too bad these days. Saturday night is the same spec as any large city in the UK - Obnoxious drunken louts. See you there!

By the way, seen this review for that hostel, made me lol
I found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. The room I booked was not the room I recieved. The room I recieved was filthy, cold and noisy. If going to Belfast I recommend that you do not stay here! Its not worth it. For the same price you can stay at the International youth hostel, which is 100%better. I had booked a room in his hostel for my friends and I over a month in advance and they still managed to mess it up! I came away from my trip in Belfast feeling dirty and cross, because of the conditions of this Hostel! AN ABSOLUTELY AWFUL PLACE NOT FIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION!

Oh dear! haha If it's really that bad we will just jump ship to the Premier Inn.
90% of the time we will be drunk anyway so not likely to notice it :p

Bwhahaha. I'd change rooms if I was you. Unless your going on a Stag in which case it probably doesn't matter.
 
Yeah, honestly look at another hotel. Days Hotel, Holiday Inn and Travel Lodge are central to the city at the lower end of price bracket. Then you have the Merchant and Europa which are too expensive imo.

I'd offer a room but the wife has forbidden me from bring people from the internet to the house :(
