Going Cairo for a long weekend, any recommends for places to see?, things to do?

Aside from the usual pyramids, citadel and great museum

For the shisha smokers who frequent here any recommendations for spots?

Thanks in advance :)

Hire a car and driver for the day and get out of the city, go to dashur and see the red pyramid and also visit the step pyramid and memphis (the old capital). Don't forget to pack your upset tummy medication and anti bacterial hand gel, oh and count your change every where 99% of the population will try and scam you.

Don't go on too long journeys as you will need the toilet. You will get the squirts so take some medication with you.

I've been to sharm el sheik for scuba diving before :)
We did a day trip to cairo from there but didnt see much at all to be honest as it was so rushed

So far the plan is

The Egyptian Museum
Pyramids and Sphynx
Islamic-Cairo - old architecture from the Islamic empire days
Khan Ali-Kalili - largest open air market in the world, best on friday but you could give it a go
Mosque of Sayyidna al-Hussein - most scared site in Egypt, it is centuries old
The Citadel - stone fortress build by Salah ad-Din

If you're careful with what you eat this can be fairly easily avoided, especially for the weekend.

WRONG! I've been in Cairo for over a month now and no one has tried to scam me even in the tourist places, stop giving Egyptians a bad name
