Geography.

The natural progression for me would be something along the lines of International Development/Policy/Managment, etc. or Environmental Management, and Modelling, etc.

You have to seriously consider what advantage you will get doing a politics advanced degree (ok, int. development or policy etc, same thing pretty much) in respect of the market. Think what employment opportunities are out there for grads of int.development and/or policy and how would the masters actually give you an edge.

Sometimes it's better to go for a year of actual work experience than a masters, especially in abstract (i.e. not heavily market related) degrees. I speak from experience as someone very close to me did a master in int.relations and politics and environment and they had a very hard time finding suitable employers that pay any decent wage.

As you guys all have masters, thought i might as well ask this here. Do employers care about pass, merit and distinction grades?

Do employers care about pass, merit and distinction grades?

It will depend a lot on the attitude of the employer, how strongly your course relates to the job, and a whole other load of factors. But it's certainly not going to hurt to have a distinction.

Im hoping more for a merit more than a distinction :D As it stands i have the grades for a merit but it will also depend on the grade of my dissertation.

Oh a BEng is good enough for me and by Chartership; just got to be bothered to do the paperwork.... :D though the masters does help

To be chartered though you have to complete further learning if you want to bump up your BEng though assuming you started after Sept '99:

IChemE GetChartered said:
You meet IChemE’s educational requirement, but must also complete Further Learning to Masters, if you hold:

An IChemE accredited BEng(Hons) started after September 1999

If you are accredited to Beng(Hons) level you must complete Further Learning to Masters before applying for Chartership.

Oh, and this:

Who says I'm not 'working' ;):D

:p

What Masters degree do you hold?

Physics + currently doing a Computer Games Technology MSc

What was your first degree in?

Physics

Why did you choose your masters course?

First one - because I was interested in physics, current one because I realised that was the area I wanted a career in but I didn't have all the skills required for it.

How did you fund it?

Loan from parents

Did the course help you find employment?

Well I haven't finished my current one, but have already been offered a job at a top games company but turned it down because it wasn't in the exact area I wanted (and no it wasn't a QA job! :p), so am reasonably positive about my employment prospects. :)
