Hi there,

Joined david llyods recently with the main objective of getting fit, but I am hopefully going to loose some fat aswell.

I was just wondering what the amount of calories you burn in an average session, because in a pretty hefty session for me I am burning a maximum of 400 calories.

Also, how many calories are in a guiness, because i go straight to the pub opposite the gym afterwards.

Thanks.

Nice gym ;)

Guiness is one of the most calorie packed drinks you can get in the pub. Just a couple of pints take quite a bit of burning off.

I've switched from drinking things like that to diet coke + vodka or something like that. They contain a lot less calories, though not as nice to drink :(

In a cardio dession alone I can usually do around 600-700 in an hour, which is 15 minutes of HIIT, 30 minutes on the cross trainer (on level 12) then 15 minutes on the bike.

errr lol? :p As mentioned slightly pointless going to the gym then, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it has as much calories as a roast dinner  though I'm sure that's not true, but if a normal pint is 300, then it's a lot more than that.

No more so than any other pint
I must be thinking of something else then. There's something similar to guinness that's almost 300kcals per pint, maybe it's the real stuff they have in Ireland? I don't know...

I know there are 190kcals in a pint of Carling lager, which is what I've always drank until I went on this low-carb diet.

Most of the calories come from the alcohol so perhaps the strong (8% is it?) export Guinness in bottles could be 300kCals.....

Actually, you're probably thinking of an Irish Car Bomb - Pint of Guinness with a shot of Baileys in the bottom ;)

Hmm maybe. I've never drank the stuff so never looked into it, I was suprised when I read that link you gave that it's only the same. Though I've been told many times the Guinness we have here is nothing like the stuff in Ireland.

Guinness and Baileys? Jeezus talk about a recipe for disaster! :D

Its one of those myths like the amount of iron in a pint of Guinness. Went to Dublin on tour once and drank nothing else all week. After extensive research I can confirm that the Guinness in Dublin does taste better than over here but don't think its a different recipe or strength......can't remember  :p

You've made it to the ripe old age of....is it 43 or 44 now?!.....and you've ever had an Irish Car Bomb? Take one Pint of Guinness, carefully lower a shot of baileys in a shot glass into the pint (helps if you've taken a mouthful out of the pint) then down the lot in one go. The baileys is quite dense so doesn't taint the majority of the pint......its only at the end when the angle of the glass is such that the baileys escapes the shot glass and delivers a further 200kcals dent to your dreams of a six pack!! ;)

Learned my lesson with Baileys after a mad six months working in Cambridge. We got a taste for blasting through shots of Baileys and Sambucca. It became a bit of a ritual that we couldn't leave the pub until we'd drank it dry of these drinks.

As you can imagine we quickly became very close friends with the landlady who absolutely loved us, she was making an absolute killing! She would order in extra bottles knowing we were coming in almost every night.

Human nature to always have to learn the hard way... one particaulr night my body had had enough, my liver tried to escape the madness out the the front door lol  :D

Never again will I touch that stuff!

*in soft voice*...and then as you open your eyes and see your misses there with a nice hot cup of tea you realise......it was all a dream ;)

Your error there was letting that vile liquor Sambucca get involved - its a punishment drink - end of!

Whats wrong with Stella chong?
It's nickname is 'Wife Beater' for a start lol! :)

Also a judge had a go after getting fed up with all the violent cases he heard always came down to people drinking Stella.

Most people I know over the age of 25 no longer touch the stuff after realizing that it turns you into a absolute lunatic when you drink too much. You can spot the young lads in a pub who are drinking it a mile away!

What wou;d chong recommend, im not a big lager drinker anyways prob have 4 pints max in a night out, rest would be other stuff.
