As title. My silly-cheap mile muncher has just gone past 120k and I think this is the time when I should be changing the belt. What should I expect to pay your average grease money for such a task?

expect to pay £150 for cambelt kit including belt, tensioners, pullys and water pump inc fitting.

had 2 escorts done recently and 1 cost £100 to do since it did not need a water pump or pullys, (only done 80k water pump was changed before) but the one with 150k on the clock had to have pullys and water pump too. can check pully cuz if you try to rotate them freely by hand they sort of stick if they are wearing out.

either way its worth doing water pump since it costs around 25 quid extra for a new one.

That doesn't seem as bad as I was expecting. Was prepared for it to be 200+. Perhaps I'm just used to over-priced Peugeot parts :)

will cost you £205ish if you use original ford parts, like i did with my fiesta, cambelt kit cost £80+vat from ford, and £40inc vat for the water pump and labour was £70 at local mechanic next door to national grid in hinckly where i did mine. just dropped car off in the morning and walked 3 mins to work and picked car up on the way home.

If it is a Blacktop Zetec engine, it is due a cambelt replacement at 100k, 200k, 300k, etc - every 100k or 10 years.

If its a Silvertop Zetec engine, it is due a cambelt replacement at 80k, 160k, etc - every 80k or 5 years.

Definitely replace the tensioners and idler pulley etc...

On my last Mondeo I had mine changed and the belt was in very good condition but the tensioner had almost cracked in half.

It's made from plastic and just as prone to failure as the belt.

Ah, this seems like good news :) I thought I read something about it being 120k in some handbook thingy. Must be losing my marbles :(
