Hit a patch of black ice last night and before I knew what was going on I was playing slip 'n slide down the road :(

Front end washed out faster than I'd imagined possible really, have yet to look at the bike in daylight to assess the damage.

Was really really nice to have the group of people who witnessed it all come to my aid and check I was ok, really nice after my previous experience when I dropped it and got ignored by everybody while pinned under the thing.

Personal injuries, a few bumps and bruises and a chunk out of my week old boots (looks like my steel toecaps did a bang up job of protecting my toes!!!), no torn or damaged clothing though I remember my helmet hitting the deck as I went down, but that needs replacing anyway.

I'll get some pics up of the damage tomorrow probably, not sure what I'm going to do about it yet, am fully comprehensive insured but increased premiums may make it better to just fix it myself depending on what I've done to it.

Just want to warn you all that even if the road looks good it can still be icy as hell, even if you know they've salted and gritted that section a few hours previously (saw the buggers do it from work) and hope it'll help somebody stay upright unlike me!!!

You're mad for riding! Glad you're ok though.
My bike is safely tucked away in the garage until the ice vanishes!

I think that's what is so annoying, I've been to Bighton (approx 50miles) on it twice in the last few weeks, got snowed in over there there first time and made it there and back ok, then on my 1.5 mile trip home from work when I should have been walking I bin the damn thing, nobody to blame but myself.

Glad your okay, thats the main thing.
Obviously damage to you bike is repairable.
Personally I wouldn't be riding this time of year, the roads are terrible!

Glad you are ok mate. I wouldnt dream of riding in this weather. Bike is nice and warm sat in the garage, on a diet of trickle charge.

I was riding until the 2nd week of December ish. I'm not even going to open the garage until late Feb at the earlist. Glad you're ok :)

Sorry to hear about your off dude, glad you're ok.

I've been riding all winter so far, and not had any incident, but I'm leaving my bike at home for the next few weeks while it's getting much colder, and getting it serviced at the end of the month. Hopefully my have warmed up a bit by then lol.

No way I would choose to go out atm, but had no choice but to take the bike to work this morning at 7am as the other-half needed the car, with such a hard frost everywhere it was a damn nightmare on some roads, had the rear spin up a couple of times :/

Least I was pretty bright eyed when I got there, usually I'm still half asleep.

Sounds like you bounced well at least. Don't trust that the council have done a good job of gritting the roads. They seem to be spreading it very thinly this year (I'm assuming to keep costs down). Stick to the main routes, keep away from back roads, steep hills and bad junctions on your route, no point making it more dangerous than it needs to be.
There seems to be a high number of clowns with absolutely no idea how to drive in these conditions, so give them plenty of room too.

Can't see your pics, wont load for me, hopefully the damage is only superficial (to you and the bike ;) ).

With still a foot of snow round here it has put me off picking up my new bike!

Gurls :rolleyes::D

the girlfriends bike has been off road for ages now..

Gur...... oh...:p

It was only -7 °C this morning, bracing :D. I needed the kettle before I could get my key in the ignition, the kettle again to get the paddock stand out of the swingarm (single sider) then a 20 minute wait whilst the throttle cables thawed out. Then the kettle at work to get my key out of the ignition.
