And let's not forget... that the reason that toll road exists in the first place, is because the gov never made good with their promises to sort the problem out 20 years ago (at least). They were THE cause of the problem in the first place, by not upgrading the existing road when they had the chance. If they had sorted it out, there would not have been a need for a damn toll road in the first place.

little chance of that after maggie's lot tried to kill it off. its very hard to get back to the top again now.
maybe we need to cut funding other countries. why do india and pakistan get so much from us? yet they have nuclear programmes and space agencies. end the war in the gulf. its doing nothing but costing us a fortune.
what's the point of bankrupting us while trying to help others? maybe its time UK PLC got a bit selfish for a few years until we are able to help people again.

The issue is are population isn't high enough and to spread out. Greater population would make it far cheaper to run public transport.
Compare the size of are cities to foreign cities with great transport and we're just to small.
The other issue, many countries started well after us or where raised to the floor in ww2, meaning far less hassle to just build infrastructure. Australia(Perth) is a great example of what you can do, when your not crammed into an existing city.
ah, but you forgot how we got royally screwed by the yanks in ww2 and they bankrupted us with loans.

You can see the government revenue in a nice colourful pie graph. I think we should do a way with at least 6 of these. Vote for me and ill end some of these revenue streams completely.

I'm against privatisation for one main reason,
If company A goes bust who has to pick up the pieces? - the government.
I don't think anything which the government would be left to pick up the mess should be in private hands - transport/energy/water are all REQUIRED for the UK to function - if for some reason the private entities made a total mess/went bust the UK tax-payer would be forced to take over these again at a massive expense.
If the tax-payer is going to be expected the cover the risk of systemic failure (Which we are) - then the government coffers should benefit from the profits to cover said risk (not that they would - they would just spend it on either freebies for the poor, or tax cuts for the rich).
