well, i thought that the motherboard can only run pc3200 and this ram is pc4000 and i saw some people creating a spec with this ram and this motherboard

why is this?

I wanna try some PC4000 in my board.

I assumed it would handle DDR500 no probs but I guess I'll wait and see what others have to say now.

Why? Because pc4000 runs at 250mhz. This is ideal for overclocking the cpu at 1:1 ratio without using a divider. pc3200 runs at 200Mhz, which usually means using a divider to overclock the cpu.

Basically, pc4000 is geared towards those who overclock.

ok.. I dont get a word of that. Wouldnt it just not work as the mob is compatible with ddr400 pc3200.. and that ram is pc4000. wouldnt it just not be compatible like my last motherboard

It's rated at ddr 400 = 200mhz speed of comms between cpu and ram, but it's an expensive board that can be overclocked. I have mine at 236. When the ballistix where working I had it up to 250.

RAM speed, such as DDR400, DDR500, etc, is just what the ram is capable of running at. It's upto the motherboard to actually run it at that speed. So you can quite happily run DDR550 memory at DDR400 if you want to, but why would be another question :)

(Overclocking your 'fsb' without a memory divider will always overclock the memory too, so changing your 'fsb' from 200 to 250 etc will be running the ram at DDR500 speeds regardless of what the motherboard actually supports)
