It's not a competition![]()
I didn't say it was.

If you read the rest of my post, I'd hope that you come away with the impression that I enjoy my food extremely hot, but I also enjoy tasting it. As it stands, the only way I've managed to not be able to eat something has been through my own concoction with various hot sauces and additives. There is some truly horrific stuff out there that simply has no place on an ingredient shelf or your fridge.
I simply mentioned that nothing I've been served in a restaurant has been high enough on the heat scale to prevent me eating it. That's simply a fact... I have no interest in online bravado or swinging an e-peen about. Feel free to jump on the bandwagon, though.
Unfortunately for a lot of [immature] people it is. I felt the same way when I was younger, that I had to 'impress' people at Indian restaurants by ordering phalls and watching their faces contort into 'oooo's.
These days I can't even take a madras - not because it tastes too hot but because I feel terrible the next morning.
The fact that you followed up your insinuation of immaturity to a quote of mine means that I have to respond to you, too, dude. Surely the lot of you can understand that there are people who enjoy their food incredibly spicy, and enjoy the feeling afterwards?
... and by that, I don't mean on the toilet
. Mind you, when I make my own curries and chilli at home, I don't end up with ring-sting or anal blowout. Whenever I eat an Indian takeaway, regardless of the heat, the next day can be horrific! If you weren't aiming specifically at referring to me as immature then that's fine -- I totally agree with you that those people who buy the hottest sauce they can find just to eat it off a spoon, cry like a smacked child, and then post it on YouTube are indeed immature.
It is, however, unfair to lump anyone else who appreciates a good hot sauce and hot food in with the rest of them. Just because you may not appreciate, or be able to tell, the different flavours of chillies etc. through the heat doesn't mean that anyone who enjoys doing so is an idiot only looking to make themselves feel macho.
