I've never fitted an aftermarket cooler to a GPU before, and are worried that I'm gonna wreck the card if I try it. Heard stories about thread lock being used and the screws being very hard to undo.

Is there anyone by me who could help out, when OCuk get the VF3000-F in for the GTX-470?

I bought the card from OCUK, is there a possibility one of their engineers could fit it?

You can do this!!

I bought the Gelid cooler for my 470 but have not fitted it yet - will be on or before the end of the month.

Having read up I was a bit concerned that I might not be able to find all the screws - having read a good few reviews am now fairly confident that I can find them all.
Have already removed and replaced the thermal paste from the gpu (a very simple process) :)- not worth it tho.as temps have hardly dropped:(
Also read with concern problems with threaded screws to which the answer seems to be that you must have correct size screwdriver , be slow and very careful AND if the b.st..ds have glued 'em then a quick tighten can often break the seal.:D (If you find one that you cannot budge then if the worst comes to the worst then you can always put it back together and sell on the new cooler.)

I did my first gpu some years ago now - fitting an Accelero to a 8800gt - was scared half to death at the time but was paitent (it took me best part of a couple of hours) making sure it was all clean before fixing new cooler. Only mistake I made was that I used AS5 rather than a no-conductive paste such as MX2/3/4 but it's still running quietly (and cooler than the original) on my sons computer.

Have confidence - If I can do this, given my level of expertise, I'm sure you can.
Only the brave etc.

Good luck !

Do you have a web-cam, as im sure some-one could do a very slow step by step useing the web-cam to give clear instructions? I dont have a web-cam myself atm but i would be happy to help.

Hi there michael,

I just had a look at that cooler and I have to say it looks rather well done and easy to fit. There is a large metal block that covers all the VRAM chips and VRMs which makes the whole process very simple, no worrying about installing little individual heatsinks. In fact, on the zalman product page if you click on the "how to install" button it goes through the installation process step-by-step in a flash animation - very helpful. The only part it doesn't cover is removing the stock hetsink - which generally involves just removing every screw you can find and putting them in a bowl.

Don't have a webcam,

Mainly worried about buggering up one of the screws / sockets because I've read so many stories about how people can't get the screws out.

Video is quite helpful, they should do one like the H50, made it very easy to install after watching that.
