Can anyone recommend a good flash for a nikon d80? I need to shoot a few promotional things with models - anything you recommend for this?
is it worth having actual external lights? The shoot will be indoors.
thanks

not compatible with TTL on Nikon DSLRs. You cna fire them manually but there is no point, the SB-600/700/800/900 were design from the ground up for Nikon DSLRs.

What is TTL?

Does a proper speed flash actually make a big difference? They seem quite expensive for what is essentially just a light! :o

Would external lights (not connected to camera at all, just to light up the room) be good too?

Take a look at the youngnuo range especially the 568, a touch over £100.

does that 568 model fully work with a nikon d80?

ive found it listed as
" YN568EX Wireless Slave TTL Flash Speedlite Speedlight with HSS 1/8000 for Canon 550D 600D 5DII 5DIII 650D (ETTL / i-TTL, M, Multi Mode)"

but in the description it says

Flash Modes: ETTL / i-TTL, M, Multi Mode. Wireless TTL Slave for Canon and Nikon, Hot Shoe TTL for Canon

What exactly does that mean? I don't fully understand it tbh. I only plan on using the flash on top of the camera - will the 568 work automatically in this case?
