Can anyone recommend a small hand pump that will work on a bike?

I had mine plugged a few days ago,z rated tyre

Also had some done on the zx10r, I don't think it's illegal its just some places flat refuse to plug them

Hmm, I'll have to keep looking. I don't have a problem having it plugged, I bet it'd still hold the speed rating easily, but my convenient places I can get it done at have said they won't :(

Yeh probably are on the 10 (you not selling that one anymore?). I just need to find a place that doesn't feel too dodgy and rim-scratchey that will do it.

Yeah, mine are rated 168mph, W tyres.

I think that's car standards? Someone on here linked a site the other day, there's definitely something that says they can't or at least shouldn't (not sure if it's one of those legal grey areas) repair high speed tyres.

I posted it when you were talking about it a couple of weeks back, haven't got a clue which site I posted though!

Maybe something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Goop-Tyre...le-/182089482296?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

I've seen Delboy uses it.

If it was me I'd just get it repaired. Had my rear done already, had a screw lodge itself just off centre after fitting my PR3 tyres 2 years ago.

Been using this stuff for over 20 years in bikes and cars

I'm very tempted by this, but have also seen it just about ruin rims (my Mum had some put in her car and it was a mess when the tyre was taken off).

I've also heard they can unbalance the wheel?

I found the puncture today, I just happened to notice some soap bubbling away on the world's smallest annoying little hole I've ever seen. Must have been something that was really sharp and long as the hole is so small that I'm surprised it got through the tread. Grrrrr. Might try phone around again and see if anyone can repair.

But saying that, just reading about Goop and it stays in liquid form, so should balance out when riding. I'm sure the goop stuff I've seen previously semi-sets on the inside of the tyre?

Lidl have some tiny compact footpumps ATM £3.99,would fit under your seat or in your rucksack

Thanks, will check it out. That'll do, even if it only lasts the trip :D (unless I go for the Goop option)

If you put to much in it can unbalance the wheel, just follow the instructions, when my tyres have been replaced, it was all in the tyre the rims were clean(it stays a liquid ).
Again it my happen if you put to much in.
The tyreweld stuff, don't use that, that's the stuff that makes a sticky mess, Goop and others like that wash off with water and isn't sticky at all

Maybe I'm being thick here, but if it's so non-sticky/watery, how is it going to hold air in when the bike is parked up and the liquid runs
to the bottom of the tyre?

Isn't it supposed to be runny? Puts a thick coating on the inside of the tyre

Edit: I've only ever used a tyre sealer once years ago, when I came to get a new tyre stuck on the tyre bloke complained about the mess it made inside

Yeah, goop is water based and meant to be really easy to wipe off/clean, so I'm just wondering what's stopping the liquid from running down overnight and opening the hole back up?

It creates a plug in any hole which then stays in place.

Slime coats the inside of the tire within the tread area, allowing the product to seal tread area punctures. When the tire is punctured, the escaping air carries the sealant to the puncture. The liquid portion of the sealant escapes and the fibers and binders build-up and intertwine to form a flexible plug. This will allow the product to instantly seal any puncture that may occur.

That's for the Slime brand but I imagine they all work in mostly the same way.

The air pressure will push the goop in the puncture and keep it there,so it can't really run out I would have thought
